Once I kept lizards of various kinds.
  Some females shudder but its in their minds.
Some lizards grow long and tall.
  Some are short and very small.

Some have dots and some have bands.
  Some like trees and some like sands.
Some change colors to hide where they are.
  Some stay green and are lucky by far.

They eat bugs and grub worms and flies.
  Some are really greatly disguised.
If you look up into the canopy of a tree.
  It might not be a leaf but a lizard you see.

It camouflages itself to confuse its prey.
  It can do this mostly every day.
I greatly will miss my lizard friend.
  But I'm glad he had a painless end.
